P.K. Abdul Rahiman is an Assistant Professor and Head of the JBAS Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Madras. He has been the Academic Coordinator of the University Centre for International Relations (UCIR), University of Madras for more than three years. Further, he has coordinated the Dialogue on Higher Education Strategies (DIES) Project with the Leibniz University, Hannover, Germany. He is as a Higher Education Expert in the DIES-Training Course on “Management of Internationalization of Higher Education”, aimed at supporting higher education management in developing countries, jointly organized by the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD), German Rectors Conference (HRK) and the Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH), Germany.
Prof. Rahman is a Member of the Board of Studies of the School of Philosophy and Religious Thought, University of Madras, and of the School of Islamic Studies, B.S AbdurRahman University, Vandalur. He is also a Member of the Academic Council, University of Madras, and the Governing Council of the Institute of Dialogue with Cultures and Religions (IDCR), Loyola College, Chennai.
Prior to his appointment at the University of Madras, Mr. Rahiman headed the research project of the International Centre for Research on Women, Washington DC, on Men, Masculinities and Domestic Violence at the NAZ Foundation (India) Trust, New Delhi. He had his M.Phil degree in West Asian Studies at the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He completed his BA and MA from the Centre for African and Asian Languages, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies, JNU.
